2.The Inspector of Police Eraniel Police Station, Kanyakumari District : Respondents PRAYER: Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issue of a Writ of Mandamus to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 14.12.2017 within stipulated time fixed by this Court and to conduct the yearly festival in Ärultharum Seyal Veerar saint Sebasthiyar Church"situated in Madathattuvilai Village, Kanyakumari District to be held on and from 12.01.2018 to 21.01.2018 and to give adequate necessary police protection for the same.

****** [Order of the Court was made by R.SUBBIAH, J] This writ petition has been filed as a public interest litigation to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 14.12.2017 and to conduct the yearly festival in Ärultharum Seyal Veerar saint Sebasthiyar Church"situated in Madathattuvilai Village, Kanyakumari District to be held on and from 12.01.2018 to 21.01.2018 and to give adequate necessary police protection for the same.
2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/
3. It is the case of the petitioner that in the petitioner's village, the Church namely, Arultharum Seyal Veerar Saint Sebasthiyar Church is situated and most of the people in the village are the members of the said Church. The customary festival is being conducted every year. This year, ie., 2018, the Church committee is planning to conduct the said festival from 12.01.2018 to 21.01.2018. Therefore, the committee members on behalf of the village people and members of the Church submitted a petition to the respondents and requested them to grant permission and to provide adequate police protection. The said petition is still pending. Subsequently, on behalf of the village people another representation dated 14.12.2017 was sent to the respondents. Since the said representation has not been considered so far, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition.
4. In view of the above, without going into the merits or the claim made by the petitioner, the respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 14.12.2017 on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5. The writ petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
