: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to restore the electricity connection to the petitioner's house situated in Door No.311, Muniyanenthal (Cheiyamangalam), Cheiyamangalam Post, Kamuthi Taluk, Ramanathapuram District, within the time stipulated by this Court. ORDER
The petitioner filed this Writ Petition seeking for restoration of electricity connection to his house.
2. On instructions, the learned Standing Counsel appearing for the TANGEDCO would submit that the consumer has to complete the internal wiring and bring the cable wire to the pole of supply. Since the petitioner has not completed that work, the respondents are not in a position to restore the electricity connection. It is also submitted by the learned Standing Counsel for the TANGEDCO that the electrical wires are damaged by somebody. Unless police protection is given, they are not in a position to complete the work.

In a similar circumstance, in the case of the petitioner's brother, this Court, vide W.P.(MD)No.6458 of 2019, has given a direction to the TANGEDCO, by its order dated 19.03.2019, to restore the electricity connection without any delay, on payment of re-connection charges and on completion of other formalities. A liberty was also given to the respondents to take the assistance of the jurisdictional police.

In the instant case, the requirement of tagging the electrical wire from the house of the petitioner upto the electric pole should be completed by the petitioner and he has to comply with other formalities of payment of re-connection charges, etc. On such completion of the formalities, the respondents are directed to restore the electricity connection to the house of the petitioner. If needed, liberty is granted to the respondents to take the assistance of the jurisdictional police. If such a request is made by the respondents/TANGEDCO, the Jurisdictional police is directed to extend police protection for effecting restoration of electricity connection to the petitioner properly.
5. The Writ Petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
