2. By consent of both parties, the main writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself.

3. Heard Mr.K.Govindarajan, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.S.M.S.Johnny Basha, learned Standing Counsel appearing for the respondents.

4. The writ petitioner's father passed away in the year 1996. He was working as a watch man. The writ petitioner seeks appointment on compassionate ground. The writ petitioner is the son of the second wife of the deceased employee. He moved this Court for the first time only in April 2017. This Court by order dated 21.04.2017, gave a direction for consideration of his representation dated 15.03.2017 and the same was rejected on 29.05.2017. That stands impugned in this writ proceedings. The purpose of giving compassionate appointment is to provide immediate alleviation to a family in distress. In this case, the death of the father had taken place 21 year ago.

5. Considering these aspects, I find no merit in the writ petition.

6.This writ petition stands dismissed.

No costs.
