ORDER
The instant writ petition has been filed by a Professor and Head of the department, working in the Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, seeking a mandamus as against the first respondent, herein to include the name of the petitioner in the seniority list in the year 2023-2024, for the post of "The Principal" at Government Engineering Colleges all over the Tamil Nadu. 2/6
2.The petitioner, who is at present working as a Professor in the Electronics and Communication Engineering department in Government College of Engineering, Tirunelveli, claims that he is the senior most Professor and his name has to be included in the panel for the promotion for the post of Principal in the year 2023-2024. Seeking the said benefits, the petitioner has sent a representation to the first respondent herein on 04.05.2023. 3.The learned Counsel appearing for the private respondents herein has brought to the notice of the Court that as per G.O.Ms.No.124, Higher Education(I-1)Department, dated 16.07.2024, the department has issued new panel, and therefore, the question of considering the name of the writ petitioner for inclusion in the said panel does not arise. The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 has also concurred with the said submission.
4.Though the prayer of the writ petitioner is for inclusion of his name in the panel for the year 2023-2024, it is for the first respondent to consider the said representation, whether to include the name of the petitioner in the panel for the year 2023-2024 or in subsequent years, depending upon the seniority and qualification and pass order on merits and in accordance with law as 3/6
expeditiously as possible.
5.With the above said observations, this writ petition stands disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is also closed. 03.10.2024 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes / No RJR 4/6
