ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to quash the impugned order dated 22.05.2015 and consequently, to direct the respondents to grant permission to conduct cock fight at Periyapatti Amman Kovil groungs, Vadipatti Taluk, Madurai District.

2. In the impugned order, the respondents have refused to grant permission, stating that permission was granted only to conduct Jallikattu, Manjuvirattu, Vadamaadu and Eruthu Vidum Vizha, and and that they have no authority to grant permission to conduct a cock fight.

3. The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the said issue was also considered by the Hon'ble Single Judge in W.P.(MD)No.11817 of 2025, vide order dated 02.04.2025, wherein the Hon'ble Judge has considered the issue and granted permission by imposing several conditions.

4. The learned Counsel appearing for the respondents submitted that the temple festival was already over and now, the cock fight cannot be considered at this stage.

5. The learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the same Committee which conducted the festival itself will conduct the cock fight as well.

6. Therefore, this Court is inclined to consider the petitioner's case. Accordingly, the impugned order is set aside. The conditions imposed in W.P.(MD)No.11871 of 2025 shall also be made applicable to the petitioner. The temple Committee which conducted the festival is directed to submit a fresh representation within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The respondents shall consider the same within a period of two weeks therefrom and pass orders in accordance with law.

7. With the above said direction, this Writ Petition is allowed. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed. 10.06.2025 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes jbr 3/4
