O R D E R

This Writ petition is filed for issuing a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to give police protection, on the basis of the representation made by the petitioner on 18.12.2017 to the Kabadi Tournament at Mariamman Koil Thidal, Malliampathu, dated 31.12.2017 at 10.00 pm to 01.01.2018 at 10.00 pm with a peaceful functioning and celebrating the same.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that the villagers have organized the tournament on 31.12.2017 at 10.00 pm to 01.01.2018 at 10.00 pm at the place known as Mariamman Koil Thidal, Malliampathu.

4. Though the representation given by the petitioner before the respondents, it is stated that so far they have not considered the representation. It is in the said context, this Court without expressing any opinion on the merits of the petitioner's case, is inclined to pass the following directions:

"The second respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's representation, dated 18.12.2017 and 21.12.2017 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, on or before 25.12.2017. In case the second respondent decide to permit the petitioner to conduct the event as it was scheduled by the petitioner, the same will be subject to the usual conditions or any other reasonable conditions, so as to ensure the law and order and communal harmony."

5. With the above direction the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is closed.
