Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant permission and protection for cultural event namely Aadal Padal scheduled to be held on 16.08.2016 at night in connection with "Aadi Festival" at Arulmigu Sri Muthumariamman Kovil at Kodakudi Village, Jegathapattinam Post, Manamelkudi Taluk, Pudukkottai District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.07.2016. For Petitioner : Mr.E.Balasubramanian For Respondent : Mr.D.Muruganandam, Addl. Govt. Pleader.

O R D E R

The writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant permission and protection to conduct Aadal Padal scheduled to be held on 16.08.2016 at night in connection with "Aadi Festival" of Arulmigu Sri Muthumariamman Kovil, Kodakudi Village, Jegathapattinam Post, Manamelkudi Taluk, Pudukkottai District, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 13.07.2016. 2.Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the writ petition is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission itself. 3.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

regularly in order to promote harmony during the above said festival period and that a representation was given to the respondent on 13.07.2016 seeking permission and protection for the festival, however, the same was not considered by the respondent so far and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition.

5.The learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent would submit that there is no instruction from the respondent Police, however, he gave an undertaking that the respondent would consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.07.2016 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law.

6.In view of the above submission made by the learned Additional Government Pleader, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 13.07.2016 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law forthwith, as the programme is scheduled to be held on 16.08.2016.

7. With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
