ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed for the issuance of a Writ of Certiorarified Mandamus, to quash the impugned order passed by the 1st respondent in Pa.Mu.No.22966/2020/C3 dated 16.05.2025 and consequently to direct the 1st respondent to renewal of the Gun License in No.157/2/PLN in favour of the petitioner within the time stipulated. 2.Heard Mr.R.Murugaboopathy, the Learned Counsel for the petitioner, Mr.K.S.Selvaganesan, the Learned Additional Government Pleader for the Respondents and perused the material documents available on record. 3.The petitioner is aged about 89 years. He has been in possession of a licensed gun since 1954. The petitioner claims that even though he is aged about 89 years old, he remains physically and mentally fit to handle the gun.

However, the respondent disputed the same stating that due to his age, the renewal of gun license was rejected. This Court is of the considered opinion that the said reason is not valid, since the Government Doctor has issued Medical Certificate on 07.12.2024, in which, the doctor has certified that the petitioner' conditions are normal and no complications in respect of his body. Therefore, the petitioner is physically and mentally fit to handle the gun.

4.Accordingly, this writ petition stands allowed. The impugned order passed by the first respondent in Pa.Mu.No.22966/2020/C3 dated 16.05.2025, is hereby quashed. The first respondent is directed to renew the Gun License in No. 157/2/PLN in favour of the petitioner and the said exercise shall be completed within a period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. There shall be no order as to costs.
