O R D E R

*********** [Order of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J.] The petitioner submitted a representation requesting the District Collector, Tiruchirappalli, to take appropriate action to rectify the damage caused to the bridge across Cauvery river at Srirengam. Since follow-up action was not taken, the petitioner has come up with this Writ Petition.

2. Mr.S.Chandrasekar, learned Government Advocate, takes notice on behalf of the respondents. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate appearing on behalf of the respondents.

3. We have perused the representation submitted by the petitioner on 22 July, 2016. We are of the considered view that reasonable time was not given to the District Collector to consider the representation. Even then, taking into account the larger public interest projected by the petitioner, we direct the District Collector, Tiruchirappalli District, to consider and dispose of the representation submitted by the petitioner on merits and as per law, as expeditiously as possible.

4. The petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the representation along with a copy of this order, so as to enable the District Collector to consider the matter, at an early date.

5. The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
