O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed by Rengasamy under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, seeking a direction to the first respondent/Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department to dispose of the pending appeal filed by him against the order dated 17.11.2014, passed by the second respondent.

2.Mr.M.Rajarajan, learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for disposal.

3.Since the petitioner was removed from the post of Panchayat President by the District Collector, Thanjavur District in exercise of his power under Section 205(i)(a) of Tamil Nadu Panchayat Act, 1994, the correctness of the order has to be decided in the appeal expeditiously on merits, failing which the petitioner would be put to great prejudice.

4.Accordingly, the first respondent/Secretary to Government, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department is directed to dispose of the appeal filed by the petitioner dated 29.12.2014, on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 5.With the above direction, the Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
