ORDER : The Court Made the following order :- The petitioner, who apprehends arrest at the hands of the respondent police for the offences punishable under Sections 417, 420, 294(b) and 506(i) I.P.C in Crime No.176 of 2018, seeks anticipatory bail.
2.The case of the prosecution is that the defacto complainant is working as an appraiser in Kavitha Gold Finance, Valliyoor. On 02.07.2018, a person introducing himself as Rajkumar and stating that he pledged his golden ornaments weigh about 20 sovereign in the Tamilnad Mercantile, Kayamozhi Branch, Thoothukudi District and he was ready to sale the same to the defacto complainant after the repayment. Believing the words, the defacto complainant paid a sum of Rs.4,38,000/- to the said Rajkumar and the petitioner herein. Thereafter, the defacto complainant tested the quality of the jewels. At that time, he found that all the jewels were made by copper and they cheated the defacto complainant. Hence, the complaint.

5.Taking note of the serious allegation made as against the petitioner, this Court is not inclined to grant anticipatory bail to the petitioner. Accordingly, this criminal original petition is dismissed.
