Prayer: Writ Petition Criminal filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission and protection to conduct Oliyum Oliyum Program on 19.05.2026 from 7.00 PM to 11.00 PM and Aadal Padal Cultural Program on 20.05.2026 from 7.00 PM to 11.00 PM in Sri Kaliyamman and Sri Manthaiamman Temple Festival, which Temple is situated at S.Mayampatti Village, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, in pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 27.04.2026.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition is filed for a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant permission and protection to conduct Oliyum Oliyum Program on 19.05.2026 from 7.00 PM to 11.00 PM and Aadal Padal Cultural Program on 20.05.2026 from 7.00 PM to 11.00 PM in Sri Kaliyamman and Sri Manthaiamman Temple Festival, which Temple is situated at S.Mayampatti Village, Usilampatti Taluk, Madurai District, in pursuant to the petitioner's representation dated 27.04.2026.

2. Mr.A.S.Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) takes notice for the respondents.

3. By consent on either sides, this Writ Petition Criminal is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side) appearing for the respondents submitted that the petitioner is seeking to conduct the Oliyum Oliyum and Adal Padal programme beyond 10.00 p.m. Hence, the respondents have not granted permission for the same.

In view of the same, the respondents are directed to consider the petitioner's representation dated 27.04.2026 forthwith and grant permission subject to all necessary conditions and also restricting the time frame from 7.00 p.m. to 10.00 p.m. The petitioner shall also submit an undertaking affidavit before the third respondent stating that no obscenity will be exhibited and that no obscene songs will be performed.
