Prayer: Writ Petition Criminal filed under Article 226 of Constitution of India, praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents Nos.1 and 2 to grant necessary permission and police protection for conducting the Puravi Edupu festival on 27.05.2026, 29.05.2026 and 30.05.2026 for Ayyanar Kovil belonging to Muthalamman Kovil at P.Thethampatti Village, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 28.04.2026.

ORDER

The present Writ Petition is filed for a Writ of Mandamus directing the Respondents Nos.1 and 2 to grant necessary permission and police protection for conducting the Puravi Edupu festival on 27.05.2026, 29.05.2026 and 30.05.2026 for Ayyanar Kovil belonging to Muthalamman Kovil at P.Thethampatti Village, Natham Taluk, Dindigul District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 28.04.2026.

2. Mr.A.S.Abul Kalaam Azad, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) takes notice for R1 and R2 and Mr.B.Ramanathan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for R3. In view of the order to be passed, notice to R4 is dispensed with.

3. By consent on either sides, this Writ Petition Criminal is taken up for final disposal at the admission stage itself.

4. When the matter was taken up for hearing, the learned Government Advocate (Criminal Side), on instructions, submitted that for the same temple and for the same date, one Mooventhiran has filed a Writ Petition in 2/5

W.P.Crl.(MD)No.2402 and this Court, vide order dated 27.04.2026 allowed the Writ Petition by permitting the petitioner to conduct Valli Thirumanam Nadagam, Karakattam and Aadal Paadal Program, on 29.05.2026, 30.05.2026 and 31.05.2026 from 07.00 p.m., to 10.00 p.m.

5. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the fourth respondent is a rival party and he is not having any instructions regarding the said Mooventhiran.

6. In view of the same, the second respondent is directed to issue notice to the petitioner, the fourth respondent and the said Mooventhiran, consider their rival claims and thereafter pass orders within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
