Respondents PRAYER: Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to lay Thar Road in the existing village mud road running through Palaiyur to Solaikadu and Pullaveli Village in Reddiyar Chathiram and Athoor Panchayat Union, Dindigul District and to renovate the same periodically and to provide transport facilities to the Solaikadu and Pullaveli Village. O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by K.K.SASIDHARAN, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed in public interest to direct the District Collector, Dindigul District, to take action to lay Thar Road in the existing village mud road running through Palaiyur to Solaikadu and Pullaveli Village in Reddiyar Chathiram and Athoor Panchayat Union, Dindigul District, in the interest of the local people. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

2. According to the petitioner, the local people are using a mud road to reach the town. However, some of the neighbouring land owners encroached upon the mud road and obstructed the people from using the road. The petitioner, along with the villagers, therefore, submitted a representation to the District Collector, on 22.07.2016. Subsequently, a Monday Petition was filed before the District Collector, on 25.07.2016. However, there was no follow up action taken by the District Collector, Dindigul. The petitioner is, therefore, before this Court.

3. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Special Government Pleader on behalf of the respondents.

4. We direct the District Collector, Dindigul, to consider the representation submitted by the petitioner dated 25.07.2016 on merits and as per law. Such exercise shall be completed within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. It is needless to mention that the petitioner shall also be given an opportunity of hearing to explain his case before the disposal of the representation by the District Collector.
