*********** [Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed for directing the respondents to prohibit the use of caste names as mandated in G.O. No.1531/1978 dated 03.10.1978.

2.In the said Government Order, the Government of Tamil Nadu had issued directions for deleting the caste names found in the names of roads and streets in Tamil Nadu. Such an announcement was made on the occasion of the centenary of Periyar E.V.Ramasamy Avarkagal.
3.According to the Writ Petitioner, though, such direction was issued way back in 1978, still several streets and roads continue to bear caste names. He therefore submitted a representation dated 25.01.2017, to the respondents.
4.We therefore, direct the third respondent herein to consider and pass appropriate orders on the said representation submitted by the writ petitioner herein. Considering the nature of the issue involved, we consciously refrain from stipulating any time limit.
