ORDER

Heard the learned counsel for the writ petitioner and the learned standing counsel for TANGEDCO.

2.The petitioner is having land in Sathananthapuram village, Virudhunagar District. On 20.10.2022, two villagers died due to electrocution. The petitioner's liability for the occurrence is still under investigation. It is therefore not proper for this Court to make any pronouncement on the said issue. Be that as it may, as a fall out of the occurrence, the petitioner's electricity service connection was disconnected. All that the petitioner seeks is restoration of the same. 2/4

Without prejudice to the compensation claims of the victims families, the petitioner comes forward to pay a sum of Rs.50,000/- to the respective spouses of the deceased persons. This undertaking shall be honoured by the petitioner within the period of four weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The petitioner shall hand over the demand drafts to the District Collector, Virudhunagar. The District Collector, Virudhunagar shall arrange handing over of the DDs to the spouses of the victims. After the petitioner satisfies the second respondent that this undertaking has been honoured, the second respondent will immediately restore the supply of electricity to the petitioner. 3.This writ petition is allowed on these terms. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petitions are closed. 19.12.2023 NCC : Yes/No Index : Yes / No Internet : Yes/ No ias Issue order copy on 22.12.2023.
