ORDER

The petitioner seeks a direction to the first to third respondents to conduct a Peace Committee Meeting based on his representation dated 17.11.2020.

2. The petitioner states that there is a Sakthi Temple in his Village. It appears that a dispute has arisen between the petitioner and the private respondents herein with regard to the celebration of festivals at the said Temple. The request for a Peace Committee Meeting has been made with regard to such dispute.

3. Mr.P.Subbaraj, learned counsel for the State, accepts notice on behalf of respondents 1 to 3. He refers to the communication dated 26.08.2021 from the Tahsildar to the Police Inspector as also subsequent communication dated 01.09.2021 from the Tahsildar to the District Collector and the Sub Collector. On instructions, he submits that, in view of the conflict between the two groups and the likelihood of a law and order problem as a result thereof, neither group has been permitted to celebrate festivals at the Sakthi Temple. The said statement is recorded. As regards the conduct of a Peace Committee Meeting, he submits that if both groups are ready and willing, such Meeting would be conducted by the authorities.

4. By recording the aforesaid submissions, W.P.(MD). No.15905 of 2021 is disposed of without any order as to costs.
