O R D E R

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This Writ Petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to reserve certain percentage of seats in M.B.B.S. admission for the students who studied in Government Higher Secondary Schools, by way of issuing a Writ of Mandamus.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner has contended to the effect that in all Government Higher Secondary Schools in Tamil Nadu, no English medium is available and the students have used to study only in Tamil medium. Under the said circumstances, they are not able to cope up with general admission in M.B.B.S seats and therefore, the present Writ Petition has been filed for getting the relief sought therein.

3.The learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 and 2 has also vehemently contended to the effect that there is no basis for reserving sufficient percentage in M.B.B.S. admission for the students who studied in Government Higher Secondary Schools and therefore, the present Writ Petition is not legally maintainable.

4.As narrated earlier, the main grievance expressed on the side of the petitioner is that since in Government Higher Secondary Schools, the students have studied only in Tamil medium, they are not able to cope up with the general admission in M.B.B.S. admission.

5.The reason given by the petitioner is really baseless and further this Court cannot direct the Government of Tamil Nadu to reserve sufficient percentage of seats in M.B.B.S. admission. Therefore, viewing from any angle, the relief sought in the petition cannot be granted and altogether, the present Writ Petition deserves to be dismissed.
