Respondent PRAYER : Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent i.e., the Chief Engineer(AED), Chennai, to pass appropriate orders on the representation, dated 23.11.2016 of the petitioner considering his seniority i.e., serial No.20 in the cadre of Inspector of Hand Boring Set Grade-III and others i.e., upto serial No.34 are serving as Inspector of Hand Boring Set Grade-I nearly for a period of one year, within a specified time frame that may be fixed by this Court and to pass such further orders as may be deemed fit and proper in the circumstances of the case. This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent i.e., the Chief Engineer(AED), Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the representation, dated 23.11.2016 of the petitioner considering his seniority i.e., serial No.20 in the cadre of Inspector of Hand Boring Set Grade-III and others i.e., upto serial No.34 are serving as Inspector of Hand Boring Set Grade-I nearly for a period of one year, within a specified time frame that may be fixed by this Court.
2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

3. Mr.N.S.Karthikeyan, learned Additional Government Pleader takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
4. The learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submitted that the representation of the petitioner, dated 23.11.2016, may be directed to be considered, on merits and in accordance with law, within the time frame to be fixed by this Court.
5. Considering the limited scope of prayer in the Writ petition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to direct the respondent/Chief Engineer, Agricultural Engineering Department, Chennai, to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 23.11.2016 and to pass orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
