ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents 1 to 3 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2023 submitted to the first respondent and to dispose of the same in accordance with law.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the parties.

3. According to the petitioner, he submitted a representation dated 17.05.2023 to the first respondent seeking to stop the payment of compensation for the land acquired for Cauvery-Vaigai-Gundar Link Project. Despite repeated follow-ups, no action has been taken on the representation. The inaction of the first respondent is arbitrary and amounts to non-compliance with statutory duties. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

4. The learned Government Advocate for the respondents 1 to 3 submits that the petitioner's representation will be considered on its merits and in accordance with law.

5. Recording the above submission, and without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the respondents 1 to 3 to consider the petitioner's representation dated 17.05.2023, on merits and in accordance with law and pass appropriate orders within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. The representation shall be considered and disposed of after conducting an enquiry. The respondents 1 to 3 are directed to provide reasonable opportunity during such enquiry to the petitioner and also to the other persons, who may be affected by such decision. There shall be no order as to costs.
