Respondents PRAYER : Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government, Agriculture Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's appeal dated 18.12.2016, regarding sanction of advance increment for possessing the M.Sc., (Sugarcane Technology) Degree awarded from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University within a specified time that may be fixed by this Court and pass such further orders as may be deemed fit and proper in the circumstances of the case.

This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Agricultural Production Commissioner and Secretary to Government, Agriculture Department, Chennai to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's appeal dated 18.12.2016, regarding sanction of advance increment for possessing the M.Sc., (Sugarcane Technology) Degree awarded from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University within a specified time.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner as well as the learned Special Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
3. Mr.C.Selvaraj, learned Special Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
4. Having regard to the the limited scope of prayer in the Writ petition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to dispose of the Writ petition with a direction to the first respondent to consider and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law on the petitioner's appeal, dated 18.12.2016, regarding sanction of advance increment for possessing the M.Sc.,(Sugarcane Technology) Degree awarded from Tamil Nadu Agricultural University within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
