This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the second respondent to give adequate Police protection for the Annathana Kodi Vizha function at Ammankudi Village, Thottiyam Taluk, Trichy District, to be celebrated on 09.05.2017 and 10.05.2017 by considering the Petitioner's representation, dated 09.02.2017.
2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.
3.Mr.A.Muthukaruppan, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

4. The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that he will be satisfied if a direction is issued to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 09.02.2017, on merits within a time stipulated by this Court.
5. Considering the limited scope of the prayer in the Writ petition, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to issue a following direction:- "The respondents are directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 09.02.2017, and pass appropriate order on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."
