ORDER

This writ petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondent to take the appeal dated 12.12.2016 on file and dispose of the same in accordance with law.

2.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned counsel for the respondent.

3.The case of the petitioner is that he is having Savings Bank Account in Indian Overseas Bank, Virudhunagar Branch, for which, he has not received ATM card and cheque book. But, the amount deposited in the said account was withdrawn by somebody. Hence, he sent a petition on 21.07.2014 under the Right to Information Act, 2005 to the Central Assistant Information Officer, Madurai seeking information with regard to withdrawal of amount, but the same was rejected on 06.08.2014. Hence, the petitioner has preferred an Appeal before the respondent on 12.12.2016 and the same is still pending without any progress. Therefore, the petitioner is before this Court with the above prayer.

4.Pending writ petition, the respondent, by the communication dated 15.02.2017 returned the appeal papers pointing out certain defects. One among the defect is nothing but non-furnishing of translated copy of documents.

5.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is inclined to comply with the defects. 6.In view of the said submission, two weeks' time is granted to the petitioner from the date of receipt of a copy of this order to comply with the defects pointed out by the respondent and on resubmitting the documents as required, the respondent is directed to take the appeal on file and decide the same on merits and in accordance with law within a period of eight weeks thereafter. 7.With the above direction, this writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
