Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying for the issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondent to grant permission and police protection to conduct Kabbadi Tournament on 21.01.2017 and 22.01.2017 at Alagamanagari Village, Sivagangai District. For Petitioner : Mr.M.Jegadeesh Pandian For Respondents : Mr.M.Govindan, Special Government Pleader.

ORDER

[Order of the Court was made by A.SELVAM, J.] This writ petition has been filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to direct the respondents to give police protection for conducting Kabbadi Tournament on 21.01.2017 and 22.01.2017 in Alagamanagari Village, Sivagangai District, by way of issuing a writ of mandamus.

2.Mr.M.Govindan, learned Special Government Pleader, has taken notice for the respondents.

3.It is averred in the petition that the petitioner is a resident of Alagamanagari Village, Sivagangai Taluk and District. Further it is averred in the petition that a Kabbadi Tournament is going to be conducted on 21.01.2017 and 22.01.2017 in the said Village. Under the said circumstances, representations have been given on 23.12.2016 and also on 05.01.2017 and therefore the present writ petition has been filed.

4.Considering the fact that two representations have been given to the respondents for the relief sought in the writ petition, the following order can be passed.

5.In fine, this writ petition is allowed in part without costs and the second respondent viz., Inspector of Police, Madhagupatti Police Station, Sivagangai District is directed to look into the representations dated 23.12.2016 and 05.01.2017 and dispose of the same within a period of one week.
