Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents herein to grant permission and give police protection to conduct the programs like 'Aadal Padal Programme' on 27.05.2026 at 8.00 pm in pursuance to the temple Pongal Festival of Arulmighu Sri Veerabathirasamy and Sri Thottichiamman Thirukovil, situated in A.Pillaiyarkulam Village, Thiruchuli Taluk, Virudhunagar District by considering the petitioner's representation dated 21.04.2026.

ORDER

The present writ petition has been filed seeking a Mandamus, directing the second respondent to grant permission and provide police protection for 'Aadal Padal' program on 27.05.2026.

2.Even though a request was made to the respondents on 21.04.2026, so far, orders have not been passed and hence, the present petition. 3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondents submitted that there is likelihood of law and order problem, when 'Aadal Padal' programme is permitted. However, there are no material records to establish the same.

4.In view of the aforesaid facts, there shall be a direction to the second respondent to grant permission and provide police protection to the 'Aadal Padal' programme to be conducted on 27.05.2026. It is made clear that the programme shall be concluded before 10.00 pm., The petitioner is directed to strictly adhere to the circular issued by the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, Chennai 600 004 in RC.No.007301/Gen I (I)/2019, dated 09.04.2019. 2/4

5.With the aforesaid directions, the Writ Petition stands disposed of. No costs.
