Heard Mr. K. Vasantha Kumar, learned counsel appearing for the petitioner, Mr. S. Deenadhayalan, learned counsel appearing for respondents 1 to 3, and Mr. R. Jegadeeshwaran, learned counsel appearing for the fourth respondent.
2. The petitioner is before this Court seeking issuance of a Writ of Mandamus directing respondents 1 to 3 to restore electricity supply to the petitioner's residential premises bearing Consumer No.05050011322. 2/5
3. The grievance of the petitioner is that the fourth respondent, who is the owner and landlord of the premises in question, had caused disconnection of the electricity supply on the ground that the lease period had expired.
4. This Court, by order dated 21.05.2026, directed respondents 1 to 3 to restore electricity supply to the said premises. Pursuant to the said order, electricity supply has since been restored.
5. In view of the subsequent development and the fact that the electricity supply has already been restored, the relief sought for in the present writ petition no longer survives for consideration.
6. Accordingly, this writ petition stands disposed of. However, it is made clear that the fourth respondent is at liberty to seek eviction of the petitioner from the premises only by following due process of law and in accordance with the procedure established under law. 3/5
7. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
