Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India for the issuance of Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 to provide adequate police

protection to the petitioner to ply his auto, to take passengers in and around Rameswaram by considering his representation dated 19.08.2016 within the time stipulated by this Court. For Petitioner :

O R D E R

The writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 to provide adequate police protection to the petitioner to ply his auto for taking passengers in and around Rameswaram by considering his representation dated 19.08.2016.

2. Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 7.

3. The case of the petitioner is that he is a fisherman having valid identity card issued by the Fishery Authorities and on account of several problems being faced by him, he decided to ply auto bearing Reg.No.TN-65 AB 7861 in and around Rameswaram; his auto permit is valid upto 12.05.2010; that the respondent nos.8 to 11, who are also running autos in the very same area, objected to the parking of his auto in beach, tourist buses parking area etc, where there was no recognized auto stands; R8 to R11 threatened the petitioner not to ply auto in and around Rameswaram; in this regard, he has lodged a complaint with the respondent police and since there was no action on their part, the petitioner has approached this Court with the relief stated supra.

4. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents 1 to 7 would submit that there is a proposal to convene a meeting of the respective parties to find out the ways and means to resolve the issue shortly.

5. In view of the above submission, this Writ Petition is closed and the concerned respondents are directed to convene a meeting of the respective parties to find out an amicable solution in order to give quietus to the issue as expeditiously as possible. No costs. Consequently, connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
