O R D E R

This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the first respondent i.e., the Deputy Inspector General of Prisons, Tiruchirapalli to pass appropriate orders on the petitioner's appeal, dated 03.09.2016 regarding the infliction of unjust punishment of stoppage of increment for a period of one year without cumulative effect by the second respondent i.e. the Superintendent, Bastal School & District Jail, Pudukottai, that may be fixed by this Court.

2. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and

the learned Government Advocate appearing for the respondents.

3. Mr. J.Gunaseelan Muthiah, learned Government Advocate, takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

4. Considering the limited scope of the request of the learned counsel for the Writ petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to issue the following direction:- "The first respondent is directed to consider the petitioner's Appeal, dated 03.09.2016, pending before the first respondent and dispose of the same on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."
