ORDER

The present Writ Petition has been filed seeking to quash the order passed by the respondent herein, whereby the request of the petitioner for conducting the Thappattam and Karagattam programs has been rejected by an order dated 10.05.2026.

2. The learned counsel appearing for the respondent submitted that, in fact, the impugned order clearly reveals that permission had been granted for conducting Thappattam and Karagattam programs on 22.05.2026 and 23.05.2026. However, the time had been restricted up to 10.00 PM.

3. However, the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that permission had not been granted for conducting Thappattam. Hence, the present Writ Petition.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the respondent brought to the notice of this Court that, during the Thappattam and Karagattam programs, if they are conducted beyond 10.00 PM, the petitioner cannot be permitted to use loud speakers.

In view of the above said deliberations, the impugned order dated 10.05.2026 is set aside and it is clarified that the petitioner shall be permitted to conduct the Thappattam and Karagattam programs even beyond 10.00 PM, if they are associated with the temple festival. However, it is made clear that the petitioner shall not be permitted to use loud speakers beyond 10.00 PM.

6. With the above said observations, this Writ Petition is allowed to the extent as stated above. No costs.
