2.The Tahsildar Thiruppuvanam Taluk, 3.The Inspector of Police Thiruppuvanam Police Station, : Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to conduct peace meeting regarding celebration of "Kuthirai Eduppu Thiruvizha" scheduled in the Tamil month of Purattasi and consequently permit the petitioners Agamudayarkarai Group in taking part in the "Kuthirai Eduppu Thiruvizha" scheduled in the Tamil month of Purattasi in Arulmigu Kalitheertha Ayyanarswamy Temple.

ORDER

This Writ Petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent to conduct a peace committee meeting regarding the celebration of festival to be conducted in the month of Purattasi. 2.The learned Government Advocate brought to the notice of this Court that the Thashildar, Tiruppuvanam Taluk, already conducted a Peace Committee Meeting between two parties and no settlement was arrived between the parties.

3.The learned counsel appearing for the rival party would submit that the Thashildar conducted the peace committee meeting and on 20.09.2018, a conclusion was arrived at after both the parties agreed to conduct the festival in a particular manner. 4.The learned counsel for the petitioner would submit that this peace committee meeting was concluded behind the back of the petitioner and his group.

5.In the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court deems it fit that the peace committee meeting is conducted by a Higher official in order to see if any compromise can be arrived at between the parties in order to conduct the festival. 6.Accordingly, the Revenue Divisional Officer, Sivagangai, is directed to call the parties for a peace committee meeting and after hearing all the parties concerned, the Revenue Divisional Officer shall take a decision with regard to conducting the festival and the parties shall abide by the decision taken by the Revenue Divisional Officer, Sivagangai.

7.The Revenue Divisional Officer, Sivagangai, is directed to commence the proceedings within a period of one month from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

8.The writ petition stands disposed of with the above directions. No costs. Consequently, connected Miscellaneous Petition is also closed.
