This petition has been filed, seeking to direct the Respondents to grant permission and to provide police protection to the petitioner and his family members for worshiping the God in pursuant to Vinayagar Chathurthi Festival of Arulmigu Sithi Vinayagar Thirukoil situate at Saluvan Street Mangadu Village Alangudi Taluk Pudukkottai District to be held 5.9.2016 on the basis of the petitioner's representation dated 19.08.2016.

2. Mr.D.Muruganandam, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondents. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

3. Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

4. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the Vinayagar Chathurthi festival is being conducted by the villagers regularly in order to promote harmony among public; that a representation was given to the respondents, but, however, the same was not considered by the respondent so far and hence, the petitioner is before this Court with this writ petition.

4.1. The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would further submit that as the Vinayagar Chathurthi festival is conducted in a peaceful manner by the villagers, there will be no untoward incident on account of this festival.

5. The learned Additional Government Pleader for the respondents would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 19.08.2016 will be considered and suitable orders will be passed thereon.

6. Once a representation has been received by the respondents, it is their bounden duty to decide on the same in one way or the other. Therefore, the 2nd respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 19.08.2016 and pass appropriate orders thereon on merits and in accordance with law on or before 02.09.2016.

With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
