: Respondents PRAYER: Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents herein, particularly, the second respondent to issue the community certificate to the petitioner as Hindu, Schedule Caste [Pallan] and consider the petitioner's representation dated 20.12.2016 and pass orders.

*********** [Order of the Court was made by T.S.SIVAGNANAM, J.] Heard Mr.S.Ramakrishnan, learned counsel for the petitioner and Mr.V.Muruganantham, learned Additional Government Pleader, who accepts notice for the respondents. By consent, the Writ Petition itself is taken up for final disposal at the stage of admission.

2. The petitioner, who claims that he belongs to Hindu Pallan, which is recognized as Schedule Caste Community, is now before this Court seeking for a direction to the second respondent to issue community certificate to him as a Hindu Pallan, Schedule Caste Community, by considering his representation dated 20.12.2016.

3. We find that after the petitioner had submitted a representation, a copy of which was also given to the District Collector, Tirunelveli District, the first respondent herein, the District Collector had also forwarded the same to the second respondent herein for appropriate action.

4. In the light of the above, we direct the second respondent herein to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 20.12.2016 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, after affording opportunity of personal hearing to the petitioner. No costs.
