Respondents PRAYER : Writ Petition is filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the respondents to grant police permission and protection for public meeting as well as to provide welfare assistance to the public on 26.09.2018 at about 5.00p.m to 10.00 p.m at K.Pudur Bus Stand, Madurai City based on the petitioner's representation dated 17.09.2018 within a stipulated time as may be fixed by this Honourable Court.

ORDER

This writ petition has been filed for a direction to the respondent police to grant permission and police protection for conducting public meeting to be held on 26.09.2018.

2. The petitioner has suggested the venue as K.Pudur bus stand, Madurai and the respondent police were not in a position to grant permission in the said venue. Therefore the petitioner had given three options as venue and ultimately the venue at Sambakkulam Road, near Marina Hotel, Madurai has been chosen to be the place for conducting the public meeting.

3. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.Side) would submit that the venue which was suggested by the petitioner earlier was not a suitable place for conducting public meeting. The present venue that has been suggested by the petitioner shall be taken into consideration by the respondent police inorder to grant permission and police protection to conduct the meeting. https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

In the facts and circumstances of the case, the second respondent is directed to grant permission and police protection to the petitioner to conduct the public meeting on 26.09.2018 at Sambakulam Road, near Marina Hotel, Madurai . It is left open to the second respondent to impose necessary conditions inorder to ensure that the meeting being conducted in a peaceful manner without giving raise to any law and order problem. The petitioner is bound to comply with the conditions imposed by the second respondent.

5. The writ petition is disposed of with the above directions . No Costs.
