[Order of the Court was made by S.M.SUBRAMANIAM, J.] The writ on hand has been instituted to forbear the second and third respondents not to give permission for conducting any meeting or government functions other than sports event in Mannar Saraboji Government Arts College Ground by considering the petitioner representation dated 04.06.2025.

2.The petitioner states that he is the permanent resident at No.19 Abiramapuram 1st street Medical College Road, Thanjavur. Nearby his locality, Mannar Saraboji Government Arts College situates. The Government is arranging function in the playground, which causes greater inconvenience to the students for using the playground and to the petitioner and other residents, who are all using the playground for walking and exercise purposes.

3.The learned Additional Advocate General would oppose by stating that the total extent of land where college situates is 44 acres and 34 acres of vacant land is available for playground purposes and other purposes. The Government has initiated action to organize function to implement the Government welfare schemes in 1.75 acres. No damage is caused to the trees. Two trees are uprooted and re-planted in the nearby location. Since no damage is caused to the ecology and environment, the present writ petition deserves to be rejected.

4. This Court is of the considered view that the petitioner himself is using the playground as an outsider. Since all the residents are using the Government college playground for walking purposes that itself seems to be without permission from the college administration. When vast extent of land are available for usage, the Government has chosen the area for organizing a function to implement the government welfare schemes. The authorities must ensure that no damage is caused to the trees and the playground.

5. In view of the facts and circumstances, the writ petitioner is not entitled for the relief sought for. Therefore, this writ petition stands dismissed. There shall be no order as to costs. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed.
