[Order of the Court was made by N.ANAND VENKATESH, J.] This writ petition has been filed challenging the proceedings of the third respondent made in No. 1514/Tha.Koo.2/2026 dated 16.05.2026 and for a consequential direction to the second respondent to grant 15 days emergency leave to the convict to the petitioner's husband, who is presently serving sentence at Central Prison, Madurai.

2. Heard the learned counsel on either side.

3. The petitioner made a representation seeking for emergency leave on the ground that the petitioner has to change the name of the Drug De-

Addiction Centre from her husband's name to her name. This representation came to be rejected by the third respondent on the ground that the emergency leave cannot be granted based on the reasons assigned in the representation. Aggrieved by the same, the present writ petition has been filed before this Court.

4. In our considered view, the impugned proceedings of the third respondent dated 16.05.2026 does not suffer from any illegality. The reason that has been assigned by the petitioner in the representation does not entitle the grant of emergency leave to the convict as per the Tamil Nadu Suspension of Sentence Rules, 1982. Therefore, there is no ground to interfere with the impugned proceedings.

5. In the result, this writ petition (Criminal) stands dismissed. Consequently, the connected miscellaneous petition is closed. [N.A.V., J.] & [K.K.R.K., J.] 03.06.2026 NCC : Yes / No Index : Yes / No TSG
