ORDER : The Court made the following order :- The petitioner, who was arrested and remanded to judicial custody on 14.02.2024 for the offences punishable under Sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii) (c), 25 & 29(1) of Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 , in C.C.No.122 of 2024 on the file of the Additional District and Sessions Judge, Special Court for EC and NDPS Act Cases, Pudukottai in Crime No.4 of 2024 on the file of the respondent police, seeks bail.

2. The case of the prosecution is that the petitioner along his friends were in illegal possession of 140 kilograms of Ganja . Hence, the case.

3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is an innocent person and he has not committed any offences as alleged by the prosecution. He further submitted that A1 and A3 had already been granted bail by this Court. He further submitted that the petitioner is ready and willing to abide by any conditions which may be imposed by this Court and he is in judicial custody from 14.02.2024. Hence, he seeks bail to the petitioner.

4. The learned Additional Public Prosecutor would submit that this case involves seizure of 140 kilograms of Ganja, which was seized only from the petitioner and his friends and also submitted that one previous case is pending against the petitioner.

5. Considering the nature of the allegations, namely that the seizure involves a large quantity of 140 kgs of Ganja and that the petitioner was arrested while in possession of the contraband, this is not a fit case for the grant of bail.

6. Accordingly, this Criminal Petition is dismissed. (S S Y J) 20.02.2026 tta TO
