This Writ petition has been filed for issuance of a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondent to grant approval for drinking water connections to the petitioner's village on the basis of the recommendation made by the Block Development Officer, Valliyoor Panchayat Union dated 05.06.2014. 2.Mr.S.Kunmar, learned Additional Government Pleader, takes notice for the respondent. By consent, the writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.

3.Heard the learned counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondent.

4.According to the petitioner, the petitioner is the President and Executive Authority of Chidambarapuram - Jacobpuram Panchayat. Due to increase of population in the Panchayat, the petitioner has passed a resolution dated 28.05.2014 to provide 900 fresh water connections to the villagers and it has also been sent to the Block Development Officer. been addressed to the respondent/District Collector, Tirunelveli. As the respondent did not take any further action, the petitioner has sent a representation dated 16.08.2016, requesting the District Collector, Tirunelveli to grant approval for water connections. But, so far, the representation was not considered and therefore, the present Writ Petition has been filed. 5.Considering the facts and circumstances of the case, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, the respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 16.08.2016, on the basis of the recommendation made by the Block Development Officer, Valliyoor Panchayat Union dated 05.06.2014, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

6.The Writ Petition is disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
