ORDER

The petitioner has approached this Court that the respondent Police is harassing him unnecessarily under the guise of enquiry.

2. Mr.P.Kottaichamy, learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side) takes notice for the respondents 1 and 2 and submits that the petitioner is the father-in-law of the 3rd respondent, who is an accused in Crime No.4 of 2025 on the file of the All Women Police Station, Aranthangi. The 3rd respondent/accused absconded from the date of registration of the case. The police officers, who are in search of the accused, found that the 3rd respondent/accused is in frequent contact with the petitioner. Therefore, in order to ascertain the whereabouts of the 3rd respondent/accused, the respondent Police went to the petitioner's house. Therefore, according to the learned Government Advocate, the petitioner is harboring the accused.

4. From the submissions of the learned Government Advocate (Crl. Side), it appears that the petitioner is in frequent contact with the 3rd respondent/accused, who is an absconding accused and therefore, in order to ascertain the whereabouts of the 3rd respondent, the respondent Police went to the petitioner's house.

5. If anybody is harboring the accused, it is also an offence. Therefore, the petitioner is expected to furnish the details if any about the accused to the respondent Police.

6. Accordingly, this Criminal Original Petition is disposed of with a direction to the petitioner to appear before the respondent Police and to co-operate with the All Women Police Station, Aranthangi and inform the details if any with him about the absconding accused. In the meantime, the respondent Police shall not harass the petitioner. 18.06.2025 Index : Yes / No.
