ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for direction to the respondents to provide police protection and permission for conduct Puratashi Pongal festival from 09.10.2018 to 12.10.2018 in Mariyamman Kovil Keelatheru, Sundarajapuram Village, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District and to direct the respondents to provide police protection and permission for conduct Amman Poo Sapparam Procession, Karakattam on 09.10.2018, Amman Poo Sapparam Procession, Thappattam on 10.10.2018, Cultural Music Program on 11.10.2018 and Villupattu on 12.10.2018 in accordance with law within the time stipulated by this Court.

2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner would submit that the festival is being conducted during the month of Puratashi every year and this year, it has been decided to conduct the said festival from 09.10.2018 to 12.10.2018 at Mariyamman Kovil Keelatheru, Sundarajapuram Village, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District. The petitioner had given a representations dated 01.09.2018 and 18.09.2018 to the respondents seeking for permission and the same has not been considered till date. Therefore, the present writ petition has been filed. 3.The learned Government Advocate would submit that the petitioner will have to abide by the conditions that are imposed by the respondent police, while conducting the festival. 4.Taking into consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, this Court is inclined to direct the second respondent to grant permission and adequate police protection to celebrate the Puratashi Pongal festival from 09.10.2018 to 12.10.2018 in Mariyamman Kovil Keelatheru, Sundarajapuram Village, Rajapalayam Taluk, Virudhunagar District.
5.It is made clear that the respondent police is at liberty to impose any conditions to ensure the peaceful conduct of the festival and the petitioner is bound to comply with the same. 6.Accordingly, the Writ petition is disposed of with the above directions. No costs.
