O R D E R
This writ of Mandamus has been filed seeking direction to the respondent to pass orders on the petitioner's revision cum mercy petition, dated 08.07.2016, within a stipulated time. 2.The petitioner is presently working as packer at Amma Amutham Angadi, Aruppukkottai. Earlier, he was working as Office Assistant at Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation, Virudhunagar from 1985.
3.During 2007, there was a disciplinary proceedings initiated against him on the complaint of a lady typist that the petitioner scolded her for some mistake in Aruppukkottai bus stop in front of general public. A criminal complaint was also lodged by the typist. Thereafter, departmental proceedings were initiated. The criminal case ended in acquittal. In the disciplinary proceedings, a major punishment of stoppage of increment for a period of seven years with cumulative effect was imposed upon the petitioner. The appeal filed by the petitioner was also rejected.
4.As the criminal case ended in acquittal, the petitioner has filed a revision petition before the respondent seeking review of the order of punishment.

5.It is represented that the petitioner would be retiring on 31.12.2016 on account of superannuation. So saying, the petitioner has sought for review of the earlier order of punishment. It is agreeable by the learned Government Advocate of the respondents to consider the revision cum mercy petition of the petitioner, dated 08.07.2016 and pass orders. 6.Accordingly, as the petitioner is due to retire on 31.12.2016, the respondent is directed to consider the revision cum mercy petition of the petitioner, dated 08.07.2016 and pass orders on or before 31.10.2016.
