This Writ Petition has been filed in the nature of a Mandamus seeking a direction to the third and fourth respondents, Executive Officer and the Chairman, respectively, of Perumagalur Town Panchayat, Peravurani Taluk, Thanjavur District to serve a copy of an agenda for the meeting, which is scheduled to held today, 26.06.2023 and permit the said respondents to conduct the meeting by allowing the members to discuss about the subjects in the agenda.

2.Heard Mr.R.Balakrishnan, learned Counsel for the petitioner and Mr.N.Muthu Vijayan, learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents.

3.The entire Writ Petition is misconceived. The petitioner has been elected as a Ward Member. She is the fifth Ward Member. If she is 2/5

interested in serving the people, she must attend the meetings of the Panchayat. She cannot stay at home and when action is taken owing to her continuous absence, seek copy of the agenda. If she wants a copy of agenda, she should attend the meeting. The meeting is scheduled today. 4.The Writ Petition should not have been filed. If the petitioner does not want to discharge the duty of the Ward Member, she can resign the post and permit some other socially interested person to contest for the election and discharge public duty. The petitioner has betrayed the trust of the voters, who had elected her. She does not deserve any consideration.
