Respondents Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India praying to issue a Writ of Mandamus, directing the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 01.08.2016 with regard to the appointment of Women Police Constables, having regard to the thousands of vacancies and in conformity with the orders passed by this Honble Court in W.P.No.9787 of 2016 dated 17.03.2016.

O R D E R

This writ petition has been filed, seeking to direct the respondents to consider the petitioner's representation dated 01.08.2016 seeking to take steps to the appointment of Women Police Constables in view of huge vacancy and also towards implementation of the orders passed by this Court in W.P.No.9787 of 2016 dated 17.03.2016.

2.Heard the learned counsel for the petitioner and the learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents.

3. The case of the petitioner is that she has completed +2 Higher Secondary Course and belongs to MBC; that lastly on 22.03.2012, the Government issued a notification for recruitment of Police Constables Grade-II and thereafter, there was no recruitment in the State, even after the order passed by the Hon'ble Division Bench of this Court in W.P.9787 of 2016 filed by one Thangavel; that the petitioner has sent a representation to the respondents on 01.08.2016, which has not been considered till date and that having left with no other alternative or efficacious remedy, the petitioner has approached this Court with the relief stated supra.

4. Learned Additional Government Pleader appearing for the respondents would submit that notification for recruitment of Police Constables is likely to be issued shortly and the process of selection is under consideration.

5. Though the petitioner has no locus standi to ask for such prayer, namely, recruitment and appointment of Women Police Constables, considering the fact that Police force is very much essential to maintain law and order problem and to ensure public tranquility in the State, this Court directs the 2nd respondent to expedite the process of issuing notification and also commencement of selection process as quickly as possible.

With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
