[Order of the Court was made by G.R.SWAMINATHAN, J.] Heard the learned Counsel for the writ petitioner and the learned Government Advocate for the official respondents. 2/5

2.The petitioner wants the encroachments in the petition mentioned survey numbers to be cleared.

3.This writ petition has been filed way back in August 2021. We are now in September 2025. When the writ petition was taken up for final disposal, the learned Government Advocate produced a copy of the order, dated 10.09.2025 issued by the Tahsildar, Devakottai under Section 6 of the Tamil Nadu Land Encroachment Act, 1905.

4.We fail to understand as to why the Tahsildar, Karaikudi Taluk was sleeping over the matter and we can see that he suddenly woke up after this writ petition was taken up for final disposal. We do not appreciate the delay and procrastination on the part of the Tahsildar. Be that as it may. We direct the Tahsildar, Karaikudi Taluk to ensure that all the encroachments in the petition mentioned water body are cleared within a period of four weeks, from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5.This writ petition is disposed of by recording the aforesaid subsequent developments. No costs.
