O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to grant free assignment land to the Petitioner in Survey Nos.189/4 and 189/5 situated at Vadapalanji, Madurai, for murdering her husband, namely Muthalagu on 28.06.2017 in the light of Annexure-I of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Rules, 1995, by considering the petitioner's representation dated 22.06.2023 within the time stipulated by this Court.

2. It is the case of the petitioner that she belongs to the Backward Class community and her husband belonged to the Scheduled Caste community. Both of them solemnized an inter-caste marriage and were blessed with two children. On 28.06.2017, the petitioner's husband was murdered by one Sundarapandi and 11 others. Thereafter, on 22.06.2023, the petitioner submitted an application seeking free assignment of land in 2/5

her name in respect of Survey Nos.189/4 and 189/5 under the scheme providing free land as guaranteed under the SC/ST Act. Since the said representation has not been considered till date, the petitioner has approached this Court.

3. The learned Government Advocate appearing for respondent Nos.1 to 4 would submit that the representation of the petitioner dated 22.06.2023 would be considered in accordance with law.

4. In view of the same, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court directs the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner dated 22.06.2023 and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of twelve weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.

5. With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs.
