Prayer: Writ Petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, praying this Court to issue a Writ of Mandamus, direct the respondents to cancel the registration number TN 63 CA 3301, erroneously assigned to the petitioner vehicle, and to assign the correct and already Government allotted number TN 63 CD 0555 to the petitioner vehicle bearing chassis No. WBA17FH08RY442995 and Engine No.0313Y513.

ORDER
This writ petition has been filed for Mandamus to direct the respondents to cancel the registration number TN 63 CA 3301, erroneously assigned to the petitioner's vehicle, and to assign the correct and already Government allotted number TN 63 CD 0555 to the petitioner vehicle.
2. The petitioner has purchased a BMW 320Ld M Sport Pro from a dealer for valuable consideration on 28.05.2025. The petitioner wants fancy number and therefore, applied for fancy registration number as TN-63CD-0555 on 05.06.2025 before the first respondent. The first respondent by 2/5
order, dated 06.06.2025, alloted the aforesaid number in favour of the petitioner. However, it appears that the said order was not produced before the fourth respondent at the time of registration of the Vehicle. Therefore, the petitioner's vehicle was registered with the number TN-63-CA-3301.
3. The learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is willing to deposit the amount due as per the relevant Rules for the fancy number pursuant to order, dated 06.06.2025.
4. The learned Special Government Pleader for the respondents 1 to 4 confirms that the fancy number has not been allotted to any other person.
5. Considering the same, there shall be direction to the fourth respondent to cancel the allotment of number TN-63-CA-3301 and assign a fancy number TN-63-CD-0555 to the petitioner subject to the petitioner paying the necessary charges. The said exercise shall be completed within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order. 3/5
6. The writ petition stands disposed of with the above direction. No costs.
