ORDER
This writ petitioner filed this Writ Petition to direct the first respondent to take action on the petitioner's representation, dated 16.02.2022 seeking to grant police protection to the petitioner's life and limp and the petitioner's properties in Survey No.160/3A, 3B, 3C, situated in Karuppanoothu Village, Manur Taluk, Tirunelveli District as per Rule 21 of Tamilnadu Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2009 and in terms of the decree in O.S.No.487 of 1990 on the file of the District Munsif Court, Sankarankovil, dated 06.08.1992.
2.The learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that the petitioner is a senior citizen aged about 66 years and he is the owner of the suit property in O.S.487 of 1990 and the decree has been passed in 2 / 5
favour of the petitioner by the District Munsif Court, Sankarankovil. The subject matter of the property in Survey No.160/3A, 3B, 3C, situated at Karuppanoothu Village, Manur Taluk, Tirunelveli District. He further submitted that as per Rule 21 of Tamilnadu Maintenance and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2009, the respondent police are bound to provide protection of life and property of the senior citizen. Hence, he filed this petition.
3.The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) appearing for the respondent police would submit that the petitioner's earlier representation, dated 16.02.2022 has been closed after enquiry and the respondent police are ready to consider the fresh representation, if any filed by the petitioner.
4.Recording the said submission made by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side), the petitioner is at liberty to approach the respondent police to give a fresh representation seeking police protection. On receipt of such representation, the respondent police is directed to take suitable action to provide police protection to the petitioner's life and property as per Rule 21 of Tamilnadu Maintenance 3 / 5
and Welfare of Parents and Senior Citizens Rules, 2009, upon that representation within a period of one week from the date of receipt of a copy of this order.
5.With the above direction, this Writ Petition is disposed of. No costs.
