O R D E R

The prayer in the writ petition is for issuance of a writ of mandamus to direct the respondent to furnish all the information and documents as sought for by the petitioner vide his application, dated 11.08.2016, under Right to Information Act forthwith.

2. A perusal of the materials produced would disclose that the Commercial Tax Officer, Thanjavur-I Assessment Circle issued show-cause notices to the petitioner indicating that his Company vehicles transported palm oil for their own purpose and sold it within Tamilnadu and therefore, levied huge amount as tax and penalty for the assessment years 2011-2012, 2012-2013, 2013-2014 and 2014-2015, by referring to various documents entered into between him and some other companies.

This Court is of the considered view that the petitioner is entitled to get the copies of documents, which are mentioned in the notices issued by the Commercial Tax Officer, Thanjavur-I Assessment Circle, so as to enable him to give reply suitably and therefore, the respondent is directed to furnish all the documents referred in the notices issued by the respondent to the petitioner, within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order, enabling him to give suitable reply for the same. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
