O R D E R

This Writ Petition has been filed seeking a direction to the respondents to give adequate police protection for conducting Kodai Vizha Festival in connection with Villupattu Scheduled to be held on 15.08.2019 to 17.08.2019 in Arulmigu Sree Madasamy Kovil at Kulayaneri Village, V.K.Pudur Taluk, Tirunelveli District.

2. The grievance of the petitioner is that he is the President of Hindu Nadar Uravinmurai Magamai Committee and they are managing the above said temple and seeking permission and protection to https://hcservices.ecourts.gov.in/hcservices/

conduct Kodai Vizha Festival in connection with Villupattu on 15.08.2019 to 17.08.2019 in the above said temple, the petitioner made a representation on 22.07.2019 to the respondents. But the said representation was not considered so far. Hence, the present Writ Petition has been filed for the aforesaid relief.

3. Today, the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) on instructions would submit that there is a dispute between two groups of particular community in respect of conducting festival in the temple. In the above circumstances, the Tahsildar, V.K.Pudur, conducted a Peace Committee Meeting, wherein the petitioner's group and the other group are appeared and during the Peace Committee Meeting, the matter was not settled. Hence, the Tahsildar, V.K.Pudur has passed an order stating that since there is no settlement between both the groups, if the permission is granted to the petitioner to conduct a temple festival, there is a likelihood of law and order problem. The learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) has also produced the copy of the order.

Considering the fact that two rival groups are fighting to conduct a temple festival and now a Peace Committee Meeting was conducted by the Tahsildar, V.K.Pudur, there is no settlement between two groups and the Tahsildar has also stated that there is a likelihood of law and order problem, the relief sought for by the petitioner cannot be granted. Accordingly, this writ petition is dismissed. No costs.
