PRAYER : Writ petition filed under Article 226 of the Constitution of India, to issue a Writ of Mandamus directing the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.04.2017 seeking notional promotion as Assistant with effect from 02.10.2011 and to grant him all the monetary and other benefits and pass necessary orders on merits and in accordance with law within the period that may be stipulated by this Court. This Writ petition has been filed by the petitioner, to direct the 1st respondent to consider the petitioner's representation dated 07.04.2017 seeking notional promotion as Assistant with effect from 02.10.2011 and to grant him all the monetary and other benefits and pass necessary orders on merits and in accordance with law within the period that may be stipulated by this Court.

2. Heard the learned Counsel appearing for the petitioner and the learned Government Advocate,the learned counsel appearing for the 2nd respondent.

Mr.J.Gunaseelan Muthaiah, the learned Government Advocate takes notice for the respondent 1. By consent, the Writ petition itself is taken up for final disposal.
4. Though the Writ petition is for issuing a positive direction, the learned counsel for the petitioner submits that the petitioner will be satisfied if a direction is issued to the respondents to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 07.04.2017.

Considering the limited scope of the request of the learned counsel for the Writ petitioner, without expressing any opinion on the merits of the matter, this Court is inclined to issue the following direction:- "The first respondent is directed to consider the representation of the petitioner, dated 07.04.2017, and pass appropriate orders on merits and in accordance with law, within a period of eight weeks from the date of receipt of a copy of this order."
6. Accordingly, the Writ petition is disposed of. No costs.
