ORDER

This Writ Petition is filed seeking direction to the respondent police for peacefully conducting the Maha Kumbabishekam of Sri Aaladi Karuppannasamy Temple, which is to be celebrated on 07.07.2023 by Rajakula Agamudaiyar community.

2.It is submitted that the Maha Kumbabishekam will be conducted once in 12 years and that earlier, it was conducted on 03.07.1984, 28.06.1996 and 06.06.2009 and that some of the villagers of Pappanam Village have raised objections. Accordingly, the permission is rejected by the police and sought for appropriate direction.

3.It is submitted by the learned Government Advocate (Crl.side) for the respondents that the dispute arose between the parties as the said Maha Kumbabishegam is being celebrated by all the villagers except Pappanam Village, where the temple is situate. Since it is stated both by the petitioner and the 2/5

respondents that the Maha Kumbabishegam will be celebrated once in 12 years, a peace committee meeting was organized by the Executive Magistrate, wherein both the parties have agreed to approach the civil Court to resolve the dispute in respect of the rights of the temple.

4.Mr.N.Kannan, Special Sub Inspector of Police, Kariapatti Police Station, Virudhunagar District is present before this Court and reported that he has no objection for giving protection for performing the Maha Kumbabishegam one day.

5.Considering the circumstances of the case including the undertaking of the police, the Writ Petition is disposed of giving direction to the respondent police to provide appropriate police protection for smooth conducting of Maha Kumbabishegam on 07.07.2023 by following the guidelines issued earlier.
